Did not get all the drivers yet and am still waiting for an answer from NVIDIA. Ratedk, that was a great solution, finding drivers now and installing them.

Question now is can I get thinks working properly with W7 pro or am I stuck with either running W8 or returning the laptop all together and go for a different new type / brand that still supports W7. W8 does not offer any advantages for me, only disadvantages and I do not need or want it (end of rant). W7 pro is perfect for what I need and I have licenses for it, and for Office. With other words, I do not need a desktop or big laptop without touch screen trying to play for tablet or mobile phone. For fun on the road and demonstrations we bought an iPad Air at the same time as the Asus laptop. I am very happy with local storage on a traditional desktop or laptop. Ditto I do not want to use cloud based programs or as storage: don't trust is privacy and more important its up-time accessibility in rural surroundings. In the same way, I use my mobile phone to make calls or very very occasionally playing very stupid simple games or spur of the moment pics. The thing is, I use a lot of programs like Adobe premiere pro, indesign, dreamweaver, word, and excel on a desktop or a desktop replacing laptop (like this one just bought). I can buy W8, but that would defy the whole idea. There are some oddities that require a bit more research to find, but they're all out there on the interwebs somewhere. There are some exceptions to this rule, but this should help you find 90% of the drivers you need. You'll be able to identify the specific hardware manufacturer and the component (and therefore the driver) for the operating system your looking for.
The same components get used by many different laptop brands and models, many times you can find a compatible driver from a competitors website, or find a thread where someone else has has already found what your looking for! If you search google for these like this:įor example, this is a Realtek RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller. Locate any unknown device in Device Manager, and right click -> 'Properties'Ĭlick the 'Details' Tab, Look for the 'Property' drop down menu and select 'Hardware Ids' All the hardware that is missing, each one has a (fairly) unique Hardware ID that you can use to locate the correct Win 7 driver. No problem though, you should be able to find the missing drivers for windows 7. That's like being upset that they don't have Vista drivers I'm not surprised that Asus doesn't support an older operating system for what would be sold as a native windows 8 machine. Reply: oh, eh, a, not windows 8, go into internet and try download drivers of each device individually, but don't use the Asus website because we ONLY have drivers for W8.

Under others are only the manuals and some bios stuff, no drivers at all!!!!.Ĭalling the Asus hotline. The display adapters only show the Standard VGA Graphics adapter, nothing else, certainly not the NVIDEA GTX 760M.Īsus website: fill OS please. eh, that is, upon checking the device manager shows all controllers and PCI device (in total 7 devices) as "others" without functional drivers.

So after checking internet and a nephew working with pc's as software - network security specialist, I delete all partitions and start install W7 on this laptop. In addition,or as result, I have a 680 Gb Partition with something on it - presumably Free Dos, with message including the phrase.
When I started the thing up, up pops a Free Dos program and before I realize what is happening this gets installed on my laptop.
